Dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for people affected by physical disability, epilepsy and autism, Support Dogs provide, train and support specialist assistance dog partnerships.

We provide help with everyday tasks for people with physical disabilities, give advance warning of seizures for people with epilepsy and provide safety and support for children with autism and their families.

We run three main programmes:

Disability Assistance Dogs are trained to meet the specific needs of a client. Our aim is to improve independence for people whose physical disability significantly reduces their quality of life. We are the only UK charity able to train a client`s own pet dog to provide this support; providing assistance with tasks that may be painful or impossible to perform; including raising the alarm in emergency`s, opening and closing doors, picking up objects and assisting with showering, undressing and dressing.

Epilepsy Seizure Alert Dogs are trained to provide a 100% reliable warning up to 50 minutes before an epileptic seizure. The security of having this warning facilitates greater independence and the ability to live a more active life; as well as preventing the 500 or so deaths each year caused by accidents following epileptic seizures. We are the only charity in the UK to train epilepsy seizure alert dogs.

Autism Assistance Dogs are trained to provide safety and facilitate a more independent and more socially inclusive life for the child with autism and their family. Autism assistance dogs work to reduce stress and promote positive emotional, educational and physical developmental changes in the child. They assist with the child`s daily routine helping with many aspects of family life including improved access to education, health and community services.

Established in 1992 we are registered founder members of the Assistance Dogs UK governing body and Assistance Dogs International.
