Dorset Wheelchair Service (DWS) has been getting a lot of interest in exercises for people in wheelchairs, with leaflets produced by NHS choices becoming a big favourite among clients attending for clinic appointments.
These leaflets provide a range of exercises specifically catering to people in wheelchairs, and are a good resource to encourage healthy living through exercise.
The exercise leaflets are being printed off and displayed in the DWS waiting room, and need to be replenished constantly! It’s really great to see this interest in specific exercises for wheelchair users.
Clients are also signposted to the website www.wheelygoodfitness.com which sells Wheelchair Fitness DVDs.

The above article is taken from the Posture & Mobility Group (PMG) online journal, and is a great example of the helpful signposting many NHS wheelchair services, like DWS, do to help maintain their clients’ quality of life.
PMG’s journal launched in 1997, and became an online journal in 2016. It includes book reviews, bursar reports from our annual conference, as well as more in-depth, clinical studies, all written by professionals working in the field of posture and wheeled mobility. We also occasionally re-publish articles from our print journal in our online journal to help inform those newer to the field.
All of PMG’s print journals are available as PDF copies for PMG members to read, here. The online journal is available for everyone to access, here.
