Travelabilty offers to tourists with special needs the chance to live the dream of a holiday in Tuscany. Today we’ll tell the best story of 2017: the honeymooners Paolo and Claudia. On Friday 13 October we received a request from a couple from Varese, Paolo and Claudia, who are both disabled. They got married the day after, October 14, and they wanted to plan their honeymoon immediately, in order to leave the following week.
Facing such a request, we could not turn back. We were so happy to contribute to the joy of that moment so we immediately started to plan their dream honeymoon in Tuscany. On Monday 23 October Paolo and Claudia left from Varese with their car towards Pistoia where Lorenzo, our tour guide, was waiting to welcome them.
Together they visited the historic centre of Pistoia, that was nominated Capital of Culture 2017, and the park of Collodi, near Pescia. The day after, they spent the morning visiting the centre of Lucca, and in the afternoon they got to Pisa, to visit Piazza dei Miracoli with its famous Leaning Tower, accompanied by Lorenzo!
On Wednesday 25 October, they left for a whole-day visit of the San Rossore Park, discovering the natural park with an exclusive minivan and, last but not least, Travel Ability, in cooperation with Centro Visite San Rossore, planned an exclusive romantic cruise on a boat on the river Arno, that crosses the whole town of Pisa.
The next step was: discovery of Maremma. They spent the whole day visiting the park of Maremma with our environmental guide Lucilla and, in order to top this unique experience, Travel Ability and the park of Maremma planned a romantic wrangler's carriage ride. On Saturday 28 October, Paolo and Claudia went to Siena, where they met Lucia and the tour guide Patricia, discovering with them the beauties of the town of Siena.
On Sunday, Paolo and Claudia could not miss the beautiful visit to the medieval city of San Gimignano with a special lunch between its towers, followed by a tasting of typical food and the wine winner of the Decanter prize of 2017. The taste was just excellent! On Monday, Paolo and Claudia finally arrived in Florence, where they met again Lorenzo, who guided them for three days around the historic centre to the discovery of the main monuments of the city.
In particular, they visited the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the Museum of the Opera del Duomo, the Battistero, the Uffizi Museum, and the Boboli Garden. They also visited Piazzale Michelangelo with its beautiful skyline, the famous Ponte Vecchio and what it was thought to be the house of Dante Alighieri. This has been a beautiful bet for all of us: for the Travel Ability team, for planning the whole trip in only one week, and for Paolo and Claudia, which have completely trusted our team with their honeymoon!
