Alex Urquhart joined the Health and Care Professions Council in 2014. After two and a half years working as an Education Officer, he was appointed Stakeholder Communications Officer in March 2017. Alex is responsible for communicating the HCPC’s standards and processes to a wide range of audiences including registrants, employers and students. Before joining the HCPC, Alex studied an MA degree in International Social Policy at the University of Kent.
Continuing professional development (CPD) is an important way in which registrants maintain their fitness to practise, and is a requirement of registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The HCPC’s statutory standards for CPD set out expectations of registrants in terms of continuing to develop their knowledge and skills, allowing them to continue to practise safely and effectively. This session will explain the HCPC’s standards for CPD, along with examples of activities and evidence. Attendees will gain an understanding of the standards and the HCPC''s CPD audit process. You will leave the session with a better understanding of what constitutes CPD and what you would need to produce if you were selected for CPD audit by the HCPC.
