Deborah believes in challenging the status quo, with innovation for the benefit of society. We strive to assist organisations to be a better version of themselves, developing a workforce that is passionate about how they safely care for the vulnerable of society. We enable organisations across health, social care and education to reduce risk, errors and raise standards by using our research and evidence-based training and online systems. Deborah was concerned about the level of risk across the health and care sector and developed the only online video based training and risk management system in the world, which demonstrates it significantly reduces risks for both the service user and the handler. Deborah is the Managing Director of A1 Risk Solutions ® specialising in moving and handling and single-handed care, working nationally assisting organisations implement successful strategies and deliver tailored and effective training. We developed the only Level 4 qualification in single-handed care which is quality assured and regulated by RoSPA. Deborah is the honorary lecturer for the Occupational Therapy Directorate at the University of Salford and enjoys developing the student’s skills and the future workforce.
Dudley council worked with A1 Risk Solutions and partner agencies, developed a community version of the Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool. The BMAT tool was originally developed and validated in the USA for acute care. The tool is a simple tool that is used to establish what piece of equipment is suitable for the service user/patient. The council needed a tool that could be used across health and social care in different projects such as reablement and single-handed care. Deborah and Chris will present the tool that they developed, which is currently being used in Dudley and explored by several other councils and health organisations to effectively discharge patients from hospital. Come along to our session and get a copy of the tool.
