Jonathan is a solicitor, self employed legal consultant and advocate. He works in Manchester where he specialised in serious injury compensation cases. Jonathan is also a qualified mediator with an interest in mediating disputes arising out of the Equality Act. Jonathan is 44 and he has been a tetraplegic wheelchair user for 30 years after breaking his neck in a diving accident.
Jonathan is a strong advocate for those living with a disability. He has contributed to a variety of conferences about disability. In 2015 he was invited to give oral evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on Disability & Equality. Jonathan is currently a trustee of the spinal cord injury charity ‘Spirit’ and he is a member of ITV Granada News’ advisory diversity panel. Jonathan is from Manchester. He has traveled extensively since his injury and is a keen skier.
Jonathan will look at the concept of social inclusion from a disability perspective, are we close to achieving it and if so what impact has the Equality Act had on removing discrimination faced by people living with a disability.
