Tom describes himself as a ‘professional trainer’. His career began teaching sailing aged 16 and since has continued instructing in dance, first aid, barista skills and off-road driving. 4x4’s have been close to Tom’s heart since his first drive off-road in a Land Rover aged 15. Since then he has been maintaining and modifying a series of vehicles and testing them to the limits. For that last 18 months Tom has been working on adapting his 4x4 experiences for disabled drivers.
A brand-new experience has been born. For the first time disabled drivers can get behind the wheel of a uniquely adapted Land Rover Defender. In this seminar Para-Drive founder Tom Arkle talks about the world of off-road driving and the opportunities for disabled drivers in recreation and competitive motorsport. Tom also outlines his vision of the ‘ultimate off-roader’ and what makes the difference between a school run SUV and a mud munching monster.
