Jean Hewitt
Jean has specialised in accessibility and inclusion in the built environment for over 20 years and is a senior member of Buro Happold’s inclusive design team and a Honorary Associate Professor at the Bartlett leading an MSc module on this subject. She is a longstanding member of the BSI’s committee for accessible and inclusive environments representing the facilities management sector and several sensory charities. She was technical author for PAS 6463: ‘Design for the Mind – Neurodiversity and the Built Environment’ published in 2022 and is currently working on an update of Sport England’s Accessible and Inclusive Sports Facilities guide. Jean holds the voluntary position of “Disability and Access Ambassador for the Built Environment”, a role appointed by the Cabinet Office and she is a volunteer speaker for the Macular Society.
