Jo Southall

Jo works as an Independent OT specialising in the supported self-management of complex long-term conditions. They developed a series of self-management masterclasses aimed at conveying key skills in just 30 minutes over video chat. Working exclusively via telehealth, Jo aims to provide a cost effective, relaxed and accessible service that meets the complex needs of chronic illness patients.
Jo lives with hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome and autonomic dysfunction and combines their own experiences with OT theory when working with those in similar situations. Jo also volunteers on the clinical advisory board for the Hypermobility Syndromes Association and regularly works with the HMSA to offer educational livestreams for both patients and professionals.

In recent years Jo has worked with a number of UK Universities to provide Covid-Safe virtual practice placements for both OT and physio students. Jo was voted 'Most inclusive person' in the Brighton University practice educator awards 2022.
