Kat Paylor-Bent

Founder, Seated Sewing

Seated Sewing is a Durham based bespoke design studio that was created by Kat Paylor-Bent, who has the unenviable accolade of being on both sides of the disability fence. Kat was able-bodied until 17 years ago when she picked up her 6 month old baby from a playpen. Kat unfortunately herniated a disk and was ultimately left paralysed and a permanent wheelchair user. For the past 5 years, Kat has been designing adaptive clothes, for herself and others. Kat is a multi-award winning designer with her creations being showcased on BBC TV, they have also received the nod of approval from the King when worn to the Palace for investitures.
