The Motability Scheme is the service that keeps over 800,000 customers moving by enabling them to exchange their qualifying mobility allowance for a brand new vehicle, powered wheelchair or scooter. Every lease is all-inclusive. That means insurance, servicing, MOTs, tyres and breakdown cover are all included in the price you pay.
The Motability Scheme is delivered by Motability Operations and overseen by the Motability Foundation, which helps disabled people make the journeys they choose.
Who can apply?
Anyone who receives one of the following allowances, and has at least 12 months’ award length remaining when they apply:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
- Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
A parent or carer can apply on behalf of a child aged three or older and non-drivers can still apply, nominating up to three people to drive for them.
