Exhibiting at Naidex, NEC Hall 20, 19-20th March 2025, Stand B-182

In Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals, The AiroRider has been Invented and Developed by British Inventor Ian Gray to be an Alternative to Mobility Scooters and Electric Wheelchairs!

The AiroRider is a unique, Internationally Patent Protected personal mobility vehicle intended for differently-abled people who need mobility assistance.

Users of the AiroRider can choose between sitting, perching or standing positions according to their preference, needs, environment or medical condition. AiroRider therefore allows greater freedom, independence and social interaction, combined with an overall more active and healthier mobility lifestyle experience.

Stylish, Ergonomic and User-Centred Design:

  • A game-changing, industry-disrupting product which will become the new, future generation of electric mobility vehicles; versatile and multi-functional, appealing to the greatest number of users.

Spring-Loaded Seat/Perch/Rear Support Rest:

  • Allows the user to ease to and from positions of sitting, perching and standing for greater choice, activity and comfort.
  • Fully adjustable for height, rake and tilt.

Front Support Rest:

  • Allows the user to safely stand with additional front support.
  • Fully adjustable for height and tilt.

The front and rear supports allow the user to have the greatest choice of driving positions between sitting, high-sitting, perching, resting, as well as standing, according to the user's preference, needs, environment and medical condition. This gives the user an even greater sense of freedom, social empowerment and well-being, and is more able to interact with their surroundings and those around them

Here is a Summary of Just Some of AiroRider’s Benefits and Features:

Health Benefits

  • Ability to choose and change body position between sitting, high-sitting, perching or standing;
  • Greater activity leads to better blood circulation and digestion, reduced susceptibility to weight gain, obesity, osteoporosis and diabetes;
  • Helps maintain muscular strength and integrity;
  • Reduced feelings of being stigmatized as able to remain at eye-level with those around them;
  • Increased sense of general well-being;
  • A great boost for both mental and physical health.

Social Empowerment

  • Users of the AiroRider have the ability to see, observe and interact with surroundings better, able to converse and interact at the same eye-level as others around them as well as do more of what those who can stand take for granted such as reach a supermarket shelf or a light switch.

The Effects of the Inactivity Epidemic are Widely Highlighted in the Media:

A BBC TV programme (‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’) highlighted a study by The University of Chester following many health benefit claims by the UK, USA and Australia of standing more and sitting less: The big standing up experiment

The well-respected organisation JustStand.org details many health benefits associated with sitting less and standing more: The human body is designed to move

The ‘Better Health Channel’ of Australia describes the many dangers that can result from for sitting for prolonged periods and that by changing body positions, altering posture and standing more can substantially reduce the susceptibility to these dangers in their article ‘The Dangers of Sitting: Why Sitting is the New Smoking’

The above are just a few references; many other media articles have highlighted that the ‘sitting disease’ is on the increase - and AiroRider helps to combat this, especially for those who are most at risk such as the elderly and less-able.

Further Benefits and Features of the AiroRider:

  • Suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments ‐ Robust and sturdy construction, generous ground clearance, large wheels to cope with the outdoor terrain.
  • Manoeuvrability ‐ The AiroRider is able to move in any required direction, turns on its own axis, and will fit through any standard-sized doorway.
  • Control ‐ The AiroRider is easily operated (both speed and direction) using an ergonomic joystick-type controller, with quiet and smooth power delivery from the twin motors and lithium-ion battery pack
  • Safe & Stable ‐ Low-profile platform, low centre of gravity, speed automatically reduces on turning, drastically reducing any shift in centre of gravity, keeping the AiroRider safe & stable. The lithium-ion battery pack incorporates only top quality cells and a battery management system to ensure that it is ultra-safe at all times
  • Ability to fold and dismantle ‐ the AiroRider can be separated into lightweight, manageable sections for ease of transportation and storage of the AiroRider e.g. car boot or in the home.

Uses for the AiroRider include those who are considering mobility scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, and as general mobility and disabled equipment.

Inventor Ian Gray, a former Chartered Physiotherapist, has over 25 years experience of disability and mobility equipment and is also the owner of a mobility equipment store. Ian therefore has had a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to draw upon for the development of this fantastic new product
